Sourcing

Sourcing

Developing local suppliers of products or components.

We assess upfront that no Mexican supplier currently produces parts and products at a lower factory price than Chinese sources. Mexican suppliers have ceased reacting to urgent demands from lower members of the corporate procurement hierarchy. Moreover, if their approach is eager, tactless, and focused on expediency and cost. In such instances, the response of the potential sources is concealed, emotional, and not overtly displayed before the potential buyers.

We can support your project by connecting you with a pool of potential and adequate suppliers, performing supplier capability and feasibility studies (including cost breakdown), coordinating visits to facilities, and guiding you in the execution of the RFQ process. Be clear with your intentions. Being straightforward with the supplier saves time and money for both the vendor and the buyer. A project timeline will entice the vendor to get an idea of capacity vs plans and make room for commitments already contracted.

Provide sufficient information. A few drawings with some volumes can help you test the waters. An extensive RFQ package with a complete set of specifications, drawings, and 3D models, increases your chances of success. That way there is no room for assumptions that will ultimately inflate your quotation. Sharing your pricing expectation with the vendor makes things easier and faster. Companies not willing to provide target pricing arguing “don’t want to leave money on the table” sometimes take longer to get quotes or eventually get nowhere.

We base our search for Mexican suppliers using the North American Industry Classification System used by federal statistical agencies in classifying business establishments for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and publishing data related to the business economies of the USA, Mexico, and Canada.

We are a group of experienced bilingual professionals who either sourced or worked on the floor of over 100 operations classified under the NAICS digit codes listed below. Each member of our sourcing team may assist you in ranking potential suppliers. We are vendor development consultants who do not work for nor accept commissions on any transaction you may have with a Mexican supplier.
